Interest rates are at historic lows so now may be the time to refinance, get lower monthly outflow, and at the same time increase the quality of life with a complete kitchen remodel.
Consider this example:
Before refinance: Monthly
$160.000 mortgage at 6%.................$1100
10,000 credit card balance...................320
Total...............................................$1420
After refinance:
$182,000 mortgage at 4.2%..............$1030
In this example a new $182,000 mortgage pays off a $10,000 credit card balance eliminating a $320 monthly expense, and leaves enough cash to do a complete kitchen remodel. The total result is a $390 reduction in monthly outflow, not counting the money the family saves on going out to eat because they love their new kitchen so much!
Contrary to popular opinion there are financing options available to qualified borrowers. If you are interested in discussing this or another finance option feel free to stop by the store any time.

Check Out Our Latest Featured Project!
Casey and Patti were not sure what to do with their cabinets last October when they called us to update their kitchen.
Although well-built oak cabinets, the original white wash stain did not do them justice. In addition to the original stain color, in an effort to improve appearances, a darker stain had been applied by hand over the top of the existing finish.
The top coat was rubbing off in places, and just didn’t look as good as it could. The question then was to replace or restain.
The cost to replace all the cabinets throughout the house, 15-20k. Restaining was under 5k, but would it look good?
As you can see from the pictures the restain turned out beautiful. Add New Venetian Gold granite, stainless steel appliances, and a tumbled marble mosaic backsplash and the kitchen update is complete.

Tile Floors
Tile floors offer many advantages over other floor surfaces in the kitchen. While we do not presume to tell anyone what flooring material to use in their kitchen, tile is a good choice.
You may have a good reason for choosing something else, for example hardwood because it is easier to live on or warmer and that is fine. If hardwood is what you want then we are happy to install hardwood, and properly maintained hardwood can be an excellent kitchen floor surface.
There are many reasons for having natural stone or ceramic tile for your new kitchen floor;
1) Low maintenance. Wood has to be refinished every few years
2) Durability. Tile floors can take a scrubbing again and again and stay beautiful.
3) Water resistant. One little water leak and insurance is paying for a new wood floor. Usually not a problem for a tile floor.
4) Cost. Tile is less expensive than hardwood
5) Selection. The options are endless.
All of this having been said I have to admit Robin and I have hardwood floors in our kitchen at home and love them, and I am saying this even after 25 years as a tile setter. But we have wood floors because this is what the house had when we bought it in '04.
I would like to mention though one key to being happy with your new tile floor is choosing the right installer. A qualified tile installer will know how to;
prepare the sub straight,
install isolation/anti fracture membrane,
have proper spacing and layout,
avoid lippage and out of plane tiles,
produce true and straight lines,
choose correct grout type and color,
achieve long lasting adhesion
Cousin Moe probably did do "just a wonderful job on granny's floor", but there is nothing like true professional installation, a floor you can be proud of, live on and show off for years to come.
ps Heated tile floors are very nice to live on! Ask us about Momento mat floor heating system.

Do I Have To Replace My Cabinets Or Can They Be Refinished?
While every situation is different here are a few things to think about when considering a complete kitchen remodel. There are many different grades or levels of quality when it comes to kitchen cabinets. If yours are inexpensive box (mass produced) cabinets and are showing signs of wear and tear, scratches, dings, loose or broken hinges, fading finish, and so on, it does not make good sense to do every thing else involved in a kitchen remodel and try to save cheapo cabinets. Particle board construction is almost always an indicator of cheapo cabinets. (Like you needed me to tell you any of that, just common sense, right?) On the other hand many older kitchens have well built solid wood cabinets that are absolutely worth refinishing if you are satisfied with the wood species. We have found refinishing saves about 75% over replacement. Refinish in some cases will make the cabinets better than new, because of the quality workmanship done by our refinish specialists. Our premium option, that is 7 days from tear out to completion of the remodel project is not available for jobs involving cabinet refinish because of on site painting requirements.

Is it too late to get my job done before the family dinner?
Maybe not, depending on what you have done. If we are only talking about replacing Formica tops with granite tops and maybe new appliances then there is still time to get the work done. A full kitchen remodel with complete tear out and replacement of absolutely everything normally will take at least four weeks. Of course actual down time for the kitchen would be just the last week of the four, as the first three weeks are for ordering, building cabinets, cutting granite and so forth.

Is Now a Good Time to Remodel? Is it Expensive?
Q: Is now a good time to remodel? Is it expensive?
A: Most would think this is a great time to get a low price because construction has been so slow, but we have seen also that many subcontractors are actually raising prices because they have less volume to pay overhead costs.
The best time to remodel is when there is a need to so and you have the resources to get it done. When the time is right, it is very important to know the market and get multiple bids from reputable contractors, from tear out to cabinet makers, granite suppliers, granite fabricators/installers, and each of the other trades involved. One stop at premium kitchen will generate as many as 25 bids from subcontractors
Why Open a Kitchen Remodel Shop Now?
Q: Why open a Kitchen Remodel shop now? Isn’t this a terrible economy? Aren’t home prices falling?
A: Yes many are worried about the economy. It is difficult to market properties right now. But some folks not wanting to sell into such a soft market are choosing to stay put and update their existing home. The housing market has ups and downs, sometimes when its going up that’s all that we can see and when its going down that’s all we can see. However the fact is that this market will turn around at some point. So it makes good sense to keep a home in good condition.
The kitchen is always an important consideration in buying a home. For example granite counters have really become the standard, many home buyers have come to expect that a home should have granite counters, stainless steel appliances, more hard surface flooring, and a nice backsplash.
