Tile Floors

Tile floors offer many advantages over other floor surfaces in the kitchen. While we do not presume to tell anyone what flooring material to use in their kitchen, tile is a good choice.

You may have a good reason for choosing something else, for example hardwood because it is easier to live on or warmer and that is fine. If hardwood is what you want then we are happy to install hardwood, and properly maintained hardwood can be an excellent kitchen floor surface.

There are many reasons for having natural stone or ceramic tile for your new kitchen floor;

1)     Low maintenance. Wood has to be refinished every few years

2)    Durability. Tile floors can take a scrubbing again and again and stay beautiful.

3)     Water resistant. One little water leak and insurance is paying for a new wood floor. Usually not a problem for a tile floor.

4)     Cost. Tile is less expensive than hardwood

5)     Selection. The options are endless.

All of this having been said I have to admit Robin and I have hardwood floors in our kitchen at home and love them, and I am saying this even after 25 years as a tile setter. But we have wood floors because this is what the house had when we bought it in '04.

I would like to mention though one key to being happy with your new tile floor is choosing the right installer. A qualified tile installer will know how to;
prepare the sub straight,
install isolation/anti fracture membrane,
have proper spacing and layout,
avoid lippage and out of plane tiles,
produce true and straight lines,
choose correct grout type and color,
achieve long lasting adhesion

Cousin Moe probably did do "just a wonderful job on granny's floor", but there is nothing like true professional installation, a floor you can be proud of, live on and  show off for years to come.

ps Heated tile floors are very nice to live on! Ask us about Momento mat floor heating system.
